Newswise — College Park, Maryland (December 18, 2013) — On Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) along with the Society for Physics Students (SPS) will host the Students Exploring Engineering and Science (SEES) program for 100 Title I 8th grade students from Howard Middle School at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The SEES program will consist of three hours of hands-on science activities.
AAPT will provide the lunches, career information, and science materials. The Society of Physics Students (SPS), an organization for undergraduate students interested in physics, organizes the program consisting of four interactive stations. Students rotate through each station and have an opportunity to engage in a science activity.
AAPT and SPS volunteers will spend the morning encouraging students to stay in school and take science, math, and writing courses.
