Newswise — CHICAGO – Eighteen national leaders in nutrition, health and business will serve as the 2016-2017 Board of Directors of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.

The Board is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and fiscal management for the Academy. Members of the Academy’s Board of Directors will serve from June 1 until May 31, 2017. They are:

• Hope Barkoukis, PhD, RDN, LD, Cleveland, Ohio, Director-at-LargeBarkoukis is the interim chair and an associate professor in the nutrition department at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine.

• Tracey Bates, MPH, RD, LDN, FAND, Raleigh, N.C., House of Delegates DirectorBates is a nutrition consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

• Don W. Bradley, MD, MHS-CL, Durham, N.C., Public MemberBradley is an associate consulting professor of community and family medicine at Duke University and a senior advisor for the Practical Playbook.

• Susan Brantley, MS, RDN, LDN, CNSD, Knoxville, Tenn., House of Delegates Director Brantley is an adjunct faculty member in the dietetics program at Carson Newman University and an instructor in the physician’s assistant program at South College.

• Dr. Evelyn F. Crayton, RDN, LDN, FAND, Montgomery, Ala., Past PresidentCrayton is the director and nutrition consultant at Living Well Associates and a professor emeritus at Auburn University.

• Jo Jo Dantone-DeBarbieris, MS, RDN, LDN, CDE, LaPlace, La., Treasurer-electDantone-DeBarbieris is the president, chief executive officer and owner of Nutrition Education Resources Inc.

• Linda T. Farr, RDN, LD, FAND, San Antonio, Texas, Speaker, House of DelegatesFarr is the owner of Nutrition Associates of San Antonio.

• Denice Ferko-Adams, MPH, RDN, LDN, FAND, Nazareth, Pa., Director-at-LargeFerko-Adams is the owner of Wellness Press LLC, providing wellness management, food marketing and other services for corporations.

• Margaret P. Garner, MS, RDN, LD, CIC, FAND, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Treasurer Garner is an associate professor of family medicine at the University of Alabama and the executive director of the student health center.

• Michele Delille Lites, RD, CSO, Sacramento, Calif., Director-at-Large Lites is a certified specialist in oncology at Kaiser Permanente’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.

• Donna S. Martin, EdS, RDN, LD, SNS, FAND, Augusta, Ga., President-electMartin is the director of the Burke County, Ga., school nutrition program.

• Aida Miles, MMSc, RD, LD, FAND, Minneapolis, Minn., Past Speaker, House of Delegates Miles is the director of the coordinated master’s program in public health nutrition at the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health.

• Steven A. Miranda, Vienna, Va., Public MemberMiranda is the deputy director of the management division at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

• Dianne Polly, JD, RDN, LDN, FAND, Memphis, Tenn., Speaker-elect, House of DelegatesPolly is the executive director of the Shelby County, Tenn., Education Foundation.

• Jean Ragalie-Carr, RDN, LDN, FAND, Chicago, Ill., Academy Foundation Chair Ragalie-Carr is the president of National Dairy Council and treasurer/secretary for Action for Healthy Kids.

• Tamara Randall, MS, RDN, LD, CDE, FAND, Shaker Heights, Ohio, House of Delegates DirectorRandall is an instructor and director of the master of science in public health nutrition dietetic internship in the department of nutrition at Case Western Reserve University.

• Kay Wolf, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, Dublin, Ohio, Past Treasurer Wolf is the vice provost of academic policy and faculty resources and professor in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University.

• Patricia M. Babjak, GSLIS, Chicago, Ill., Chief Executive Officer Babjak joined the Academy in 1975, working as director of the Commission on Dietetic Registration and executive vice president for Strategic Management and Governance prior to being named chief executive officer.
