Newswise — ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Today, Symposium co-sponsors announced the research to be included in the 2013 Breast Cancer Symposium Press Program. The three key studies will focus on advances in breast cancer risk, detection and treatment. Study details will be presented in an embargoed presscast for reporters on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 12:00-1:30 PM (EDT). ASCO expert in breast cancer Steven O’Day, MD will moderate the presscast which will feature researchers from each of the studies.

Researchers will present the following studies during the Presscast:

A population-based study of long-term cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in women treated for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast

A study investigating the association between use of perioperative MRI and locoregional recurrence in women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast

A study examining the accuracy of women’s perceptions of their personal breast cancer risk

This year’s Symposium will take place September 7-9, 2013, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis in San Francisco and will feature more than 170 abstracts on the latest research in breast cancer. On-site facilities for reporters will include a working newsroom and access to leading breast cancer experts.
