Newswise — The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses is pleased to announce the AAOHN 2017 National Conference, April 24-27, 2017, in New Orleans, La., where the theme will be “History, Passion, Performance: Together Towards Tomorrow.” A range of preconference (3-, 6-, 12- or 15-hour) workshops and concurrent podium (90-minute) presentation formats are being accepted.

Abstracts are welcomed for presentations from occupational health nurses and others in all occupational health nursing categories:

- clinical practice- management and leadership- disability case management- safety & environmental (including regulations)- health promotion/wellness/chronic condition management and coaching- research/evidence-based practice and professionalism (including professional development)- inter-professional topics- global occupational health

Abstracts must:

· demonstrate a concise statement of significance of the topic; · make a direct link to the conference theme; · be applicable for the anticipated audience of mid- or advanced levels of practice;· focus on leading-edge subjects of interest to those working in any occupational health setting, including manufacturing, hospital/healthcare, government/military, education, etc.; · be appropriate for both the OHN and the APRN; · offer sufficient detail to demonstrate the relevance of the topic for presentation; and · pertain to occupational health nursing research, evidence/solution-based clinical practice, disability management, safety, health promotion, business/management and policy initiatives.

Guidelines for Submission: The online submission tool can be accessed through abstract.aaohn.org. To submit a session, all session submitters must first register as a Non-Website Member. Once a Non-Website Member profile has been created, follow the prompts to submit your online abstract submission. Please note: all abstracts must be submitted online and completed per the online submission tool guidelines. Please direct all questions to [email protected].

Deadline: The call for abstracts will close May 30, 2016, at 11:59 pm CDT. Abstracts that do not adhere to the guidelines and/or are received after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Selection Criteria: Abstracts will be reviewed by a selection committee and rated on the following criteria: Strength of Proposal (40%), Expertise of the Presenter (25%), Topic Relative to Educational Needs of AAOHN members (25%), and Marketability of Topic (10%). Abstracts that will score highest will be on topics that are leading-edge, evidence-based, forward-looking and innovative, address mid- and advanced-levels of practice and are appealing to a large number of conference attendees. No abstract will be accepted that does not show clear and accurate interpretation of implications and recommendations for practice, education, research and/or policy for one or more of the occupational health nursing subspecialties.

The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc.’s purpose is to provide evidence-based information with implications for occupational health nursing.
