Newswise — CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — 19 November 2014 — The University of Virginia Darden School of Business continued its fall Leadership Speaker Series Monday with a presentation from Carlos Brito, CEO of Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev). Darden Second Year MBA student Lindsay Luke introduced Brito. Luke interned the previous summer at AB InBev and will join the company full time this summer after graduation.

Brito offered three reasons why AB InBev has outperformed its competitors:

1. The company aims higher and dreams bigger.2. On average, AB InBev has more talented people.3. People who work at AB InBev feel ownership of the company, so AB InBev retains and develops its talent.

AB InBev is the leading global brewer. The company distributes its products in more than 125 countries and employs more than 150,000 people.

Brito was appointed CEO of AB InBev in 2005. Prior to this appointment, Brito served as CEO of Ambev and zone president North America at Inbev. He held positions at Shell Oil and Daimler Benz before joining Ambev. Brito received a degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and an MBA from Stanford University.
