“These tragedies highlight the importance of screening pilot candidates and foreign carriers crafting stricter guidelines for flight personnel,” according to Cody Christensen, aviation assistant professor at South Dakota State University, who specializes in commercial air transportation, airline operations and aviation safety.

His research and scholarship responsibilities include mentoring in aviation, barriers of access in aviation education and simulation in aviation.

Christensen is available to discuss how Germanwings plane crash will change guidelines and training of flight staff including pilot training.

Christensen is a former airline captain, a multiengine flight instructor and holds professional membership in Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, South Dakota Pilots Association, University Aviation Association and Women in Aviation.
