Background: This event is part of the launch of American University’s Model G20 Initiative, a simulated summit conference that is designed to bring students across the United States and abroad together to advance their understanding of international economic cooperation.

Since 2008, the G20 has become the premier forum for international economic cooperation. Each year heads of states and governments of the leading advanced and emerging economies and the heads of major international organizations convene to address the most challenging issues on the global economic agenda.

In recognition of the G20’s influence in shaping today’s world, SIS has designed the first U.S.-based standalone experiential learning program that focuses on the G20 and strives to prepare future leaders to build a strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive global economy.
