West Virginia University has experts available to discuss the unrest in Ukraine and the potential consequences of this latest attack.

Erik Herron, Eberly Family Professor of Political Science at West Virginia University, has been studying politics in the region for two decades, and has been conducting research to better understand the origins and consequences of the conflict. Herron's research on Ukraine has been featured in numerous political science journals and in the Washington Post.

Boris Barkanov, political science professor, received his Ph.D. from the University of California for his dissertation “Mercantilist Development in Russia: The Legitimacy of State Power, State Identity, and the Energy Charter Regime (1990-2010)” and has examined Russia’s legacy and ideology throughout numerous published works.
