Thomas Guglielmo, associate professor of American studies, is an expert on race and ethnicity. Dr. Guglielmo is working on his second book, “Race War: World War II and the Crisis of American Democracy.” The book addresses Americans’ struggle over the meaning and boundaries of race.

Calvin Warren, assistant professor of American studies, is an expert on African-American philosophy and 19th century African-American history. His latest project examines the minority position of free blacks in antebellum society.
