The National School Lunch Program standards emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains and portion sizes in students’ meals to improve their health and well-being. When parents are packing lunches, how can they make sure the meals are healthy, enticing and reasonably priced day after day? Nathan Drendel, a dietitian and wellness coach with ProMedica Wellness, is available for comment on how to pack healthy and tasty meals for children. He is passionate about nutrition and exercise and the role they play in shaping a person’s health and well-being. Nathan was instrumental in creating Toledo-area Imagination Station’s Eat It Up!, a highly interactive exhibition focused on nutrition and exercise that tells the story of how the choices you make today affect your body. He also enjoys developing flavorful healthy recipes that are featured on the ProMedica TV YouTube channel and shared via social media and ProMedica HealthConnect.

Nathan earned a Bachelor of Science in dietetics and nutrition from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in Minneapolis and a Master of Science in food and nutrition from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
