Newswise — Arlington, Va. (January 7, 2014) –The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) announced today that John Lisack, Jr., CAE, AAPS Executive Director, will step down at the conclusion of the 2014 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition in November and transition to a consultant role for the association. Mr. Lisack joined AAPS in November 2003, and developed and established programs, policies, and strategies that have advanced the AAPS mission and vision. Of particular note, he administered AAPS’ finances, personnel, materials, and information resources. While at AAPS, Lisack vastly expanded the association’s programming, publications and personal technology offerings – including eLearning courses and webinars- to better serve its members and the pharmaceutical profession. He also spearheaded the recent launch of the AAPS Foundation, and put into place policies which more than doubled the association’s financial assets during his term as CEO.

Marilyn E. Morris, Ph.D., AAPS president, noted “John has had a myriad of accomplishments during his AAPS tenure, not the least of which was establishing a wonderfully collaborative culture between staff and leadership.” Said Morris, “his professionalism, leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment will be sorely missed. He is leaving this Association on very firm footing.”

A Certified Association Executive, Lisack has worked in the association management profession for over 35 years. He is a past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE). He was also awarded “Professional of the Year” accolades by PCMA in 2012. Prior to serving in his position at AAPS, Lisack was the Executive Director of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) for four years, the CEO of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) for eight years, and Executive Director of the National Association of Personnel Consultants for four years. An avid athlete, Lisack enjoys tennis and golf whenever time permits. He earned his master’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
