Newswise — Loyola University Health System physician Suzanne Kavic, MD, FACOG, ASRM, has been elected an alternate delegate for the Illinois delegation to the American Medical Association. In this role Dr. Kavic will serve as a link between the AMA and members of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) on activities, communications, policies and membership matters. Her term will run through 2016.

The AMA is a professional organization dedicated to ensuring sustainable physician practices that result in better health outcomes for patients. ISMS represents the interests of member physicians and patient advocates and promotes the doctor/patient relationship, the ethical practice of medicine and better public health.

Dr. Kavic, who lives in Downers Grove, is president-elect of the DuPage County Medical Society, which is a chapter of the ISMS. She is a trustee of ISMS for Dupage County and serves on the ISMS Finance and Medical Benevolence Committee. Dr. Kavic is board consultant to the ISMS Council on Education and Health Workforce and the ISMS Committee on CME Accreditation. Dr. Kavic also served on the ISMS Committee on CME Accreditation from 2011 to 2012.

In addition, she is an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Kavic also is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She has been a longtime volunteer with HealthRight International, a global health and human rights organization.

Dr. Kavic is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. At Loyola, she is the division director of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. Dr. Kavic is an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and in the Division of Endocrinology of the Department of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She also is the clerkship director of Obstetrics/Gynecology for third-year medical students at Stritch School of Medicine.Dr. Kavic received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., and completed her residency at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals in Saginaw, Mich. She did a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Columbia University in New York.
