With investors discussing the possibility of the first maglev train service in the United States — between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, and as a transportation alternative in Orlando, FL — the speedy trains of China may soon have company in North America.

According to Dr. Tylor Claggett of Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, these projects may be the first steps toward overcoming financial and right-of-way issues that could one day make maglev travel a reality throughout the East Coast. The associate professor of finance has studied and published on aspects of the Chinese economy, which include the use of maglev trains, in journals including Studies in Economics and Finance.

Claggett is available to speak with reporters about his predictions for maglev transportation in the United States. To arrange an interview, call the Salisbury University Public Relations Office at 410-543-6030 or email [email protected].
