Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, a LifeBridge Health center, is pleased to announce that Paul A. Gurbel, M.D., has been named to the 2013 Best Doctors in America® list. Compiled by Boston-based Best Doctors Inc., the list is the result of an exhaustive survey of more than 45,000 physicians in the United States in more than 40 specialties and subspecialties. Gurbel is an interventional cardiologist in the Heart Center at Sinai and is also director of the Sinai Center for Thrombosis Research. Under Gurbel’s leadership, the Center for Thrombosis Research has been recognized in the international cardiology and thrombosis community as a leader in the field of antithrombotic therapy. The expertise of the lab is centered on antiplatelet drug development, antithrombotic therapy and personalized antiplatelet therapy.
The breakthrough findings of Gurbel and his team at Sinai have been published in hundreds of peer-reviewed medical journal articles and have influenced treatment guidelines related to antiplatelet therapy as recognized by the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. Their research has also created a platform for the discovery of new antithrombotic drugs.
