Newswise — February 24, 2015 (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) – Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI) and Chalk.com announced today a partnership that makes PI’s acclaimed educational resources available to more than 100,000 educators worldwide.

The PI multimedia classroom kits are divided into eight modules, accounting for more than 40 lessons. These fun, interactive lessons have already reached millions of students across North America, the UK, and Asia – and now they will be instantly available worldwide through Chalk.com. Chalk.com, a fast-growing online collaboration and sharing space for teachers, gives teachers access to PI’s suite of classroom resources and activities on dark matter, general relativity, cosmology, and other cutting-edge fields of theoretical physics.

“We are always looking for new ways to allow students to engage with modern physics in their classroom,” says Greg Dick, PI’s Director of Educational Outreach. “In Chalk.com we’ve found our match – an innovative company that is committed to helping teachers and school boards collaborate to deliver the best possible education. We want to empower teachers to move beyond simply inspiring the next generation, to truly advancing their skills and understanding in preparation for the quantum future.”

Through Chalk.com, PI lessons will be available for the first time not only as full modules, but as individual downloadable lessons, allowing teachers to customize their curriculum to best suit student needs. The Chalk.com platform will also allow schools and districts to collaborate between classrooms on lesson planning, delivery, and evaluation when using PI’s resources. The PI resources are the first premium content available on Chalk.com – a reflection of the stellar reputation of the resources among teachers. Every PI educational resource is created with direct input and oversight from faculty members at the Institute, which is the largest theoretical physics research centre in the world.

“At Chalk.com, we’re all very excited to work with Perimeter Institute in providing teachers around the world with instant access to the highest quality physics lessons and resources. This partnership marks the beginning of a very innovative working relationship,” says William Zhou, CEO of Chalk.com. “We’re going to provide this access to not only our teachers but also to the schools who work with both Perimeter Institute and Chalk.com. Together we’ll be able to improve the quality of physics education worldwide.”
