Newswise — Starting in the fall 2015, business analytics is one of two new concentrations that will be offered in the evolved MBA program.

BW’s distinctive and highly praised holistic “systems” approach to the MBA will remain intact, but the new graduate business administration curriculum will feature a unified core, plus seven specialized tracks including new business analytics and international business concentrations. Management, accounting, human resources, entrepreneurship, and sustainability round out the specialized tracks.

In addition, BW will continue to offer a nationally ranked hybrid/online version of the Management MBA (Hybrid MBA), an Executive MBA, and a Health Care MBA.

According to U.S. News, in just three short years, the U.S. will face a shortage of as many as 190,000 people with the skills to analyze big data, “not to mention hundreds of thousands of managers and analysts who understand both business operations and how to draw decision-driving insights from vast amounts of data.”

While Harvard Business Review has called data science “the sexiest job of the 21st century,” John Lanigan, Dean of the BW School of Business, says BW’s new data track builds on 40 years of experience in MBA innovation and leadership.

“The Baldwin Wallace MBA is evolving to meet the needs of today’s employers, allowing customization for today’s business leaders, while maintaining the holistic, ‘systems approach’ that BW pioneered and maintains as a centerpiece,” Lanigan says.

“More than 6,000 BW MBA graduates can attest to the value of ‘systems,’ which teaches a big picture business view, helping graduates break down the silos that so often impede organizational success,” Lanigan adds.

There’s a new scheduling option to bring that “big picture” into view, as BW implements a Saturday-only cohort for the management track beginning with the Fall 2015 semester. Students who prefer a seated program with face-to-face classroom interaction, but who can’t attend weeknight class sessions, will be able to earn the BW MBA in two or four years, attending classes every other Saturday.

BW will hold MBA Open House programs to answer questions on March 4 at Corporate College East and March 5 on the Berea campus. Visit www.bw.edu/academics/bus/programs/openhouse/ for more information or to register. You can also contact the BW School of Business at (440) 826-2392.
