Newswise — Corporations have long collected art to beautify the workplace and inspire creativity. The UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management will host a unique exhibit Saturday night that offers a rare look at several local corporate art collections. Highlights include two David Hockney etchings, an Ellsworth Kelly lithograph and Weng Fen photography on loan from AT&T. The painting of Ebby Halliday’s “Little White House” that has been a fixture in her office, a piece from the Mary Kay Museum, among other works, also will be featured at the Corporate Art Showcase on Saturday night at the Jindal School’s special event, Artistic Impressions of Management. “The arts are a critical for a thriving economy,” said Dr. Diane McNulty, associate dean for external affairs and corporate development. “Our Corporate Art Showcase reflects the value that corporations place on supporting the arts and education.” With Braniff International Airlines photography, paintings and sculptures by acclaimed North Texas artists and works on loan from corporate art collections, the Naveen Jindal School of Management's unique art event has a business twist.
Artistic Impressions of Management feature a gallery of special exhibits to raise funds to provide contemporary art for the Jindal School’s $25 million, 108,000-square-foot expansion now under construction. Proceeds will support the Jindal Art Collection, which is in its formative stages and includes gifts from alumni, faculty and friends.
“Art is a catalyst for innovation,” McNulty said. “Artistic Impressions of Management will support our initiative to provide a cultural experience for students as they receive a world-class business education.”
The one-night event will feature works by Dallas-area artists including Brad Oldham, known for The Traveling Man public art installation near the Deep Ellum DART station, and Jon Flaming, a Richardson graphic designer and painter.
Janet McGreal, a Dallas and San Francisco-based artist whose works have been commissioned by such celebrities as Mick Jagger and Oprah Winfrey, will lend a bronze sculpture, titled Squigglies, which will be on display at the Jindal School for six months.
The school has commissioned Dallas artist Jim Bowman to create a large glass and steel sculpture that will hang in the atrium of the new addition. Renderings, models and some of the components of the work-in-progress will be on exhibit at the event. The building expansion will provide a high-tech trading lab, a state-of-the-art sales lab, more meeting space for student organizations, the Career Management Center, Executive MBA classrooms and a café.
Distinguished alumnus and longtime Jindal School donor H. Ronald (Ron) Nash, MS ’79, and his wife, Susan, are serving as honorary event chairs. Jacqueline Anderson, art consultant, president of JBA Art Solutions and wife of Dallas Museum of Art Director Maxwell Anderson, is curating two photo exhibits.

Exhibits include:
◾Selected Work of Janet McGreal — McGreal’s works have been exhibited throughout the United States and sold to such celebrities as Oprah Winfrey, Mick Jagger and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
◾Selected Works of Brad Oldham — In addition to his Dallas installations, Oldham created a 28-piece collection for The Lumen, a hotel in University Park; a life-size bronze lion sculpture for the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C.; and a 14-foot-tall sculpture of Wayne Gretzky and his family in Brantford, Ontario.
◾Selected Works of Jon Flaming — The Richardson-based graphic designer and painter is best known for his depictions of iconic Texas imagery, rural landscapes and various industry brands.
◾Corporate Art Showcase — This exhibit will feature several pieces representing the products, services and culture of area companies including AT&T; Denbury Resources Inc.; Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc.; Ebby Halliday Realtors; Haynes and Boone LLC; The Home Depot; Mary Kay Inc.; Reclaimed Textiles; and the Sherwin-Williams Co.
◾The Glamour Age of Flight — On loan from the McDermott Library Special Collections, this exhibit provides a look back at the Dallas-Fort Worth area airline industry in photography, advertising and ephemera of Braniff International Airlines. This collection is made up of a select mix of dazzling photographs and bold, super-sized advertising posters used during the 1960s and 1970s to promote the company.
◾Construction of a Management Building — This photography exhibit includes several pieces documenting the creation of the school’s current expansion project by award-winning photographer John Fowler, who is known for often joining workers on site for significant milestones.
◾Jindal School Business Photo Competition — This exhibit showcases winning entries of the Jindal School Business Photo Competition. Students, enthusiasts and master photographers captured the artistic side of business in categories such as innovation, teamwork, iconic business landmarks and more.
◾Stewpot Art Program Exhibit — The Stewpot Art Program is a community outreach serving the homeless and at-risk populations of Dallas. A selection of artwork created by program participants will be on display and available for purchase with the proceeds going to the artists.
◾Pop-Up Art Exhibit — This exhibit will display the work of emerging and established local artists. These featured artists include: Jayshree Bihari, Susan Bishop, Liz Conrad, Beth Eschbach, Debbie Klein, Nan Phillips, Herb Reed, Sandya Shetty and John Van Ness.
