Partners and invited guests of the TMT International Observatory (TIO) will gather on Mauna Kea on October 7 to take part in a time-honored Hawaiian groundbreaking and blessing ceremony.

TIO Board Chair Henry Yang, Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie and Hawaii County Mayor William Kenoi will deliver remarks to be followed by a traditional Hawaiian ceremony.

Credentialing and Media Inquiries:

Access to the Thirty Meter Telescope site will be limited due to the area’s sensitive environment and harsh physical conditions and to space and access/egress limitations. Media credential application deadline is Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
