Who: Tram T. Tran, MD, FACG, is Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Tran has broad research interests in the areas of viral hepatitis B and C, liver disease in pregnancy and liver disease.

Why: The hepatitis C virus is the most common cause of chronic viral liver disease in the United States. It is estimated that between 2.7 and 3.9 million Americans have chronic hepatitis C. Infection is most prevalent among those born between 1945 and 1965, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
