On February 5, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final determination that it will cover lung cancer screening for people who are at high risk of developing the disease. Medicare will now cover annual lung cancer screening with Low Dose Computed Tomography (low dose CT) for Medicare beneficiaries who meet certain criteria.

Charles White, MD, Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Chief of Thoracic Radiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center, is available to discuss the risks and benefits of low dose CT, who is eligible for screening and who it can benefit most.
