Marc Zimmer, the Tempel Professor of Chemistry at Connecticut College, is a computational chemist who specializes in green fluorescent proteins. He is one of the rare scientists who can explain topics for broad understanding. Specializes in Green Fluorescent Proteins and their impact on disease research.

His newest book, "Illuminating Disease: An Introduction to Green Fluorescent Proteins," (Oxford University Press, 2015) is written for a general audience and walks readers through various diseases and how GFP tracking and testing is leading to possibilities for treatment and possible cures.

Zimmer's earlier book, "Glowing Genes: A Revolution in Biotechnology," (Prometheus, 2005) is the first popular science book on jellyfish and firefly proteins.
