Stephanie Walker has more than 30 years experience in the working with chile crops. She is an experienced chile and onion breeder and works with the a range of issues including commercial production. Her focus is on irrigation technology, mechanization and stand establishment. Walker received her master's in horticulture and doctorate in agronomy. She is an assistant professor and Cooperative Extension Service vegetable specialist at New Mexico State University and an expert on the New Mexico’s signature crop -- chile. She works closely with Paul Bosland and Danise Coon at NMSU’s Chile Pepper Institute, the world's only international, non-profit organization devoted to education and research related to chile peppers. Known by many as the “Chileman,” Paul Bosland is widely considered the world’s foremost authority on chile peppers. Bosland leads NMSU’s chile breeding and genetics research program and is the co-founder and director of the Chile Pepper Institute. Bosland has published more than 100 scientific papers dealing with chile genetics, breeding and germplasm evaluation. Bosland has a bachelor’s in genetics and a master’s in vegetable crops from the University of California-Davis. His Ph.D. is in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Coon is the program director at the Chile Pepper at NMSU, which builds on the research of the late Fabian Garcia, the father of the U.S. chile pepper industry.
