Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of infertility, and possibly the least understood. It is also associated with risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, insulin resistance and high cholesterol. Now researchers believe they have uncovered a genetic link to the condition that affects one in ten women in the United States. Corrine Welt, M.D., an endocrinologist with University of Utah Health Care was involved in the new study and is available for interviews.

Welt's career has focused on disorders of reproduction and their medical consequences. She is a clinician who also studies the genetics of female reproductive disorders so that they can be identified early, providing the opportunity for early intervention.
