Pop and vintage music expert Robert Darden of Baylor University, a former editor with Billboard Magazine, is available for interviews about international independent cassette labels and how music enthusiasts — especially fans of heavy metal bands — are fanning the so-called “low-fi” craze. Oct. 17 is Cassette Store Day.Darden, a former gospel music editor for Billboard, is a professor of journalism, public relations and new media in Baylor’s College of Arts & Sciences. He also is a champion of vinyl, rescuing old warped and scratched gospel records from “the golden age of black gospel music” to digitize them through Baylor’s Black Gospel Music Restoration Project.
