Newly spotted dwarf planet shows depth of solar system

Newswise — Astronomers have found what seems to be the most distant object ever in our solar system. The object is three times father away than Pluto, and has been designated V774104. Joseph Burns, Irving Porter Church professor of engineering and astronomy, says the new discovery is yet another piece of evidence that the solar system is larger than previously thought. Burns says: “The discovery of V774104 is more proof that the solar system is bigger than we thought. We need a little more time to pin down the orbit and determine the object’s exact size, but it must be big to see it at this distance.”
