Nathaniel Herr, assistant professor of psychology, is director of AU’s Interpersonal Emotion Lab. Herr has a clinical specialty for individuals who have a high risk for self-injury and suicide, and has worked with individuals with depression and borderline personality disorder, both of which are associated with increased risk for suicide. An expert on assessing the risk factors for suicide and the level of risk for suicide of a given individual's behaviors, Herr can discuss the fine line between non-suicidal self injury and a suicide attempt and the links between impulsivity and emotion regulation and suicide.
