Changing technology prompts NATO’s shift on cyber warfare
Newswise — Barry Strauss, military historian and chair of the history department at Cornell University, comments on NATO’s likely upcoming agreement on cyberspace as a warfare domain. He says wise leaders recognize innovation in military technology.

Strauss says:
“It’s not surprising that NATO is likely to agree at its summit next month to recognize cyberspace as an operational domain of war, and one in which it will respond to hostile attacks. The U.S. did this five years ago and cyber-threats have only increased since then.
“From iron to the atom bomb, and from the legion to the machine gun, military technology is constantly changing. Wise leaders recognize innovation, and change with the times. Winston Churchill, for example, rode into battle on a horse as a young cavalryman and brought Britain its first nuclear weapons as Prime Minister in the 1950s.”
