A 777 plane has disappeared in Malaysia. Transponder communications were limited. A massive search is underway, and still unsuccessful in finding the black box. How can investigators find the missing plane?

Dr. Randy DeMik, Director of Aviation and Transportation, M.S., and Associate Professor at Lewis University in Illinois, explains there are several options for finding the plane. The 777 pilot says there is plenty of data available to Aircraft Communications and Reporting System (ACARS) can help find missing Malaysian plane. For example, investigators can find out how long the plane continued to fly after it last’s correspondence with an air traffic control tower.
