Newswise — CHICAGO – Nineteen national leaders in nutrition, health and business will serve as the 2019-2020 Board of Directors of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Representing more than 100,000 credentialed practitioners, the Academy is the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The Board is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and fiscal management for the Academy. 

Members of the Academy’s Board of Directors will serve from June 1 until May 31, 2020. They are:

Catherine W. Christie, PhD, RDN, LDN, FAND, Jacksonville, Fla., Treasurer

Christie is the associate dean at the University of North Florida’s Brooks College of Health and a professor in the department of nutrition and dietetics.

Kevin Concannon, MSW, North Bethesda, Md., Public Member

Concannon served as Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences at the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2009 until 2017.

Sharon A. Cox, MA, RDN, LDN, FAND, Charlotte, N.C., House of Delegates Director

Cox is the owner and co-founder of Cox Duncan Network, a foodservice consulting firm specializing in food safety, food management, health and nutrition, and a senior consultant with Tecker International LLC, a multidisciplinary global consulting practice.

David C. Donnan, MBA, PEng, Wilmette, Ill., Public Member

Donnan is partner emeritus with A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm, and a consultant to the consumer products, retail and technology industries.

Linda T. Farr, RDN, CSOWM, LD, FAND, San Antonio, Texas, President-elect

Farr is the owner of Nutrition Associates of San Antonio, doing business as Nutritious Table, providing personalized medical nutrition therapy to adults and teens.

Cecilia Fileti, MS, RDN, FADA, FAND, Ann Arbor, Mich., Director-at-Large

Fileti is the president of C.P. Fileti Associates Inc., a food and health communications and regulatory response firm.

Diane W. Heller, MMSc, RDN, LD, FAND, Marietta, Ga., Speaker, House of Delegates

Heller is a retired consultant at Nutrition Solutions, where she worked for more than 20 years, providing nutrition programs at corporations, in physicians’ offices and in schools.

Manju Karkare, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND, Raleigh, N.C., Past Treasurer

Karkare is the owner of Nutritionally Yours LLC, a private practice offering personalized nutritional coaching focused on integrative and functional nutrition and weight management.

Marcy Kyle, RDN, LD, CDE, FAND, Rockport, Maine, Past Speaker, House of Delegates

Kyle is Maine Health’s Regional Director of Nutrition and Diabetes Services at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital, and the nutrition specialist for the Pen Bay and Rockland Area YMCA.

Ainsley Malone, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, FAND, FASPEN, New Albany, Ohio, House of Delegates Director

Malone is a nutrition support dietitian at Mt. Carmel Health System and a clinical practice specialist with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

Kathleen Niedert, MBA, RD, CSG, FADA, LHNHA, Hudson, Iowa, Treasurer-elect

Niedert is the executive director of Western Home Services’ Madrid Home campus and Western Home Services’ network nutrition and dietetics specialist.

Terri J. Raymond, MA, RDN, CD, FAND, Auburn, Wash., President Raymond is the president and owner of Dietitian Consulting Services LLC.

Mary Russell, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND, Chicago, Ill., Past President

Russell is a medical science liaison II, U.S. Nutrition Medical Affairs, at Baxter Healthcare and a lecturer at the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science.

Kevin L. Sauer, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, Manhattan, Kan., Director-at-Large

Sauer is an associate professor in the department of food, nutrition, dietetics and health at Kansas State University and co-director of the Center for Food Safety in Child Nutrition Programs.

Ellen R. Shanley, MBA, RD, CDN, FAND, Glastonbury, Conn., Director-at-Large

Shanley is the dietetics director in the department of allied health sciences at the University of Connecticut’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.

Milton Stokes, PhD, MPH, RD, FAND, St. Louis, Mo., House of Delegates Director

Stokes is director of global health and nutrition outreach at Bayer Crop Science.

Kathy Wilson-Gold, MS, RDN, LD, FAND, Edmond, Okla., Academy Foundation Chair

Wilson-Gold has more than 30 years of experience in business and industry, including at Campbell Soup Company, leading executive teams to deliver innovative and customized business solutions.

Lauri Wright, PhD, RDN, LD, Jacksonville, Fla., Speaker-elect, House of Delegates

Wright is the chair of the department of nutrition and dietetics and directs the doctorate in clinical nutrition program at the University of North Florida.

Patricia M. Babjak, MLIS, Chicago, Ill., Chief Executive Officer

Babjak directs the Academy’s Headquarters operations, based in Chicago. She joined the Academy in 1975 and previously served as executive director of the Commission on Dietetic Registration and executive vice president of the Academy.
