Newswise — It was a big week for Johns Hopkins Nursing at the 2014 Annual Institute of the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators, or ACHNE, as members of the School of Nursing were recognized for each of the awards handed out during the program and watched Joan Kub assume the role of president of the organization.

“It was a great showing for us,” said Christine Savage, PhD, RN, CARN, FAAN, chair of the Department of Community-Public Health, who attended the March 5-7 event in San Antonio, TX.

The following members of the School of Nursing community received awards:

Tener Goodwin Veenema, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN: Outstanding Contributions to Community/Public Health Nursing Practice

Lori Edwards, DrPH, RN, APRN, BC: Outstanding Contributions to Community/Public Health Nursing Education

Angela Fulmer: Outstanding Graduate Student in Community/Public Health Nursing

“It’s an honor to work with colleagues who are recognized for their outstanding performances and to have the privilege to work with students such as Angela who have a passion for public health nursing,” said Kub, who offered the closing remarks for the event and will serve as the organization’s president through 2016.
