Newswise — The 50 million Americans who suffer from autoimmune disease now have the opportunity to get involved and raise research dollars by participating in a Washington DC Metro Autoimmune Walk hosted by the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA). The Walk will be held on Saturday, June 21 at McLean Central Park located at 1468 Dolley Madison Boulevard in McLean, Va. Walkers will meet at the gazebo at 10 am. The year’s Walk will feature silent auction items from the Washington Nationals baseball team.

“The Autoimmune Walks have not only proven to be instrumental in raising funds for autoimmune research but they have also been helpful in bridging the gap with families who may not understand the intricacies of a loved one affected by autoimmune disease. The camaraderie that occurs at the Walks is tremendous. Raising funds for autoimmune research while fellowshipping is a great for awareness. These are but two reasons why AARDA encourages everyone to get involved and host a grassroots Walk,” says Virginia T. Ladd, President and Executive Director of AARDA.
