Newswise — PARK RIDGE, IL. – John Wheeler, owner of John Wheeler Commercial Photography in Chicago, will be made an honorary member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) during the Annual Congress in Chicago, Ill. on Tuesday, August 13th.  Since 1933, honorary membership into the AANA has been conferred upon less than 15 individuals.

For more than 30 years, Wheeler has provided photography services that have documented the advocacy and milestones of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) profession.  Through his photography services he’s documented at least a third of our association’s history and events.

“I have always considered my service to a client a privilege and have given my best. To be recognized for my commitment is an unexpected honor,” expressed Wheeler.  “After so many years of mutual loyalty and dedication, the AANA has become something more than a client, and working with them has always been a pleasure.”

A native Chicagoan, John has covered many iterations of the AANA’s Annual Congress, Mid-Year Assembly, Joint Committee Conference, Fall Assembly, the Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators meetings.

In addition, his photography prowess has been called upon to spearhead photo shoots at clinical sites and hospitals to gain real-life clinical photographs for the AANA’s stock photography.  His photographs have been used in AANA publications, national print and digital media outlets, advertising, and most anywhere nurse anesthesia issues were being communicated.

A professional photographer for more than 45 years, Wheeler received his Bachelor of Art degree in photography and photo journalism from the University of Illinois, Chicago.

About the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists

Founded in 1931 and located in Park Ridge, Ill., and Washington, D.C., the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) is the professional organization representing nearly 53,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and student registered nurse anesthetists across the United States. As advanced practice registered nurses and anesthesia specialists, CRNAs administer approximately 45 million anesthetics to patients in the United States each year and are the primary providers of anesthesia care in rural America.
