Newswise — Child Psychologist Colleen Cicchetti is Director, Center for Childhood Resilience at Lurie Children’s. She is an expert in the treatment for children who have been exposed to trauma or victimization. She founded the Community-Linked Mental Health Services Program (CLMHSP) in 2004, for which she served as the Director.

She can talk about the importance of parents simply listening to their children’s worries and questions, and help parents bring in ways to talk about their own values and beliefs in relation to the tragedy.

BIO:Colleen Cicchetti, PhD, is a pediatric psychologist in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She leads the Center for Childhood Resilience a regional organization promoting access to high quality mental health services for children and adolescents statewide through clinical service, research, training, advocacy and policy reform. She does Trauma training – Teaching professionals who work with children, trauma-informed best practices.
