Newswise — Washington DC—Ian Williams, PhD, Chief of the Outbreak Response and Prevention Branch for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Robert Gravani, PhD, CFS, Food Science Professor at Cornell University, have both recently joined the Advisory Council for the Global Food Traceability Center (GFTC).
“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Williams and Dr. Gravani to the Advisory Council,” said William Fisher IFT Vice President of Science & Policy Initiatives and Executive Director of the Global Food Traceability Center. “Both of them have a wealth of experience that will further help position the GFTC as an authoritative, scientific, and unbiased source for food traceability.”
The Global Food Traceability Center officially launched in September 2013. The vision of the Center is to become the global resource and authoritative voice on food traceability. The Center serves all aspects of the food system by generating knowledge that addresses research gaps, and delivering applied research, objective advice, and practical expertise about food product traceability and data collaboration for private benefit and public good. Until the launch of the Center, there was no single entity, public or private, that brought together key stakeholders in the agri-food system to collaborate on providing knowledge and timely assistance on product tracing solutions.
