Newswise — The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has added 12 full-time faculty members for the start of the 2018-19 academic year, bringing the school’s total number of full-time professors and lecturers to 103.

With these additions, the Carey Business School, established in 2007, has hired 77 research- and practice-track faculty members during the past six years.

Dean Bernard T. Ferrari said, “These 12 outstanding appointments are the latest evidence of the Carey School’s commitment to building a full-time faculty of the highest quality. They represent a variety of disciplines, and they come to Carey from pre-eminent institutions of higher learning both here in the United States and abroad. I am proud to welcome them to the Carey Business School community.”

The new faculty members, six in the research track and six in the practice track, earned their doctorates and other advanced degrees at institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina, the London Business School, and Erasmus University.

In alphabetical order, the 12 new members of the Carey Business School’s full-time faculty are:

  • Mohammad Ali Alamdar Yazdi, assistant professor in the practice track (operations management and business analytics), PhD and master of engineering in industrial and systems engineering, and master of science in computer science, all from Auburn University. Areas of expertise include data science, statistics, data visualization, and machine learning.

  • Andrew Ching, professor in the research track (marketing), PhD and master of arts in economics, both from the University of Minnesota, and master of arts in economics from the University of British Columbia. Areas of expertise include quantitative marketing, industrial organization, applied econometrics, economics and marketing, particularly in the pharmaceutical, health care, consumer package goods, and video game industries. He previously was a professor at the University of Toronto.  

  • Michael Darden, associate professor in the research track (economics), PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina. Areas of expertise include health economics, information economics, and microeconometrics. Previously, he was a faculty member at George Washington University and Tulane University, and is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

  • Gianni De Nicolo, associate professor in the practice track (finance), PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota. Areas of expertise include macrofinance, banking, and financial econometrics. Before joining Carey, he was an economist at the International Monetary Fund and the Federal Reserve System, and a faculty member at Brandeis University and the University of Rome.

  • Evgeny Kagan, assistant professor in the research track (operations management and business analytics), PhD in operations management from the University of Michigan and master of science in logistics and information systems from Erasmus University in the Netherlands. Areas of expertise include entrepreneurial operations management, behavioral operations management, and innovation and product development.

  • Joël Le Bonassociate professor in the practice track (marketing), PhD in marketing and master of science in marketing and strategy, both from Paris Dauphine University. Areas of expertise include sales strategy and business development, digital sales, customer relationship management technologies and data intelligence, and marketing strategy. Previously, he was on the faculty of the University of Houston.

  • Terry Leitch, lecturer in the practice track (finance), MBA from the London Business School and master of science in applied math from Northwestern University. A longtime professional in the financial industry, he previously taught four years as an adjunct faculty member at the Carey Business School.

  • Robert Mislavsky, assistant professor in the research track (marketing), PhD in operations, information, and decisions from the University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Areas of expertise include consumer behavior, judgment and decision making, risk perceptions, and “want-should conflict.”

  • Jordan Rippy, assistant professor in the practice track (accounting), PhD in accounting from the University of Alabama and master of accounting from Baylor University. Areas of expertise include financial accounting, managerial accounting, and financial statement analysis. She previously was an assistant professor at Florida State University.

  • Dongho Song, assistant professor in the research track (finance), PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and master of arts in economics from Seoul National University. Areas of expertise include asset pricing, applied time series econometrics, and macrofinance. Previously, he was an assistant professor at Boston College.

  • Yinan Su, assistant professor in the research track (finance), PhD in financial economics from the University of Chicago. Areas of expertise include banking, asset pricing, financial econometrics, and economic networks.

  • Minghong Xu, assistant professor in the practice track (information systems), PhD in management information systems from the University of Illinois at Chicago and master of science in operations research from Columbia University. Areas of expertise include data analytics, data mining, network analysis, dynamic pricing, and supply chain management.
