Newswise — BOSTON – (November 20, 2013) – WorldOne and Joslin Diabetes Center announced that they have launched the Diabetes HUB, an online clinical and educational resource. The HUB is housed on Sermo and will allow for close collaboration and information sharing between diabetes experts and primary care physicians (PCP).

This new collaboration brings together WorldOne, the global leader in healthcare data collection, insights and intelligence, and Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s largest diabetes research and clinical care organization.

“We are excited to be working with Sermo to educate this large community of physicians about diabetes prevention and treatment,” said John Brooks, President and CEO of Joslin.

The Diabetes HUB provides the arena to inform a large community of PCPs about diabetes management.

Aside from serving as an interactive forum for PCPs to discuss and debate posts by Sermo opinion leaders, the Diabetes HUB also features Joslin’s educational offerings and point of care tools and resources in addition to curated content from selected sources. Joslin will poll HUB participants on a variety of topics to collect physician insights on diabetes care and prevention.

Joslin clinicians will also help stimulate dialogue, sharing key findings with the community as well as with other key stakeholders in diabetes care as a way to expand the educational opportunities.

“At Sermo we believe that collaborations are among the most effective means to serve the needs of our communities,” said Peter Kirk, CEO of WorldOne. “We are also committed to developing new ways to support our doctors help their patients reach their health goals. Innovative relationships like this one with Joslin hold much potential to improve the quality and efficiency of health care.”
