Newswise — One building, 5 million insects and you: Observe tarantulas, hiss with the cockroaches, befriend black widows, dote on death-feigning beetles, see a scorpion, pray for preying mantids and waddle with walking sticks. It’s Insectapalooza 2010 at Comstock Hall, Cornell campus, on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It is free and fun for all ages.
And back by popular demand: Dip your hand into a bucket full of maggots!
Tour the world famous Cornell Insect Collection. Enjoy the Butterfly Room and the Lost Lady Bug exhibits. Learn about invasive species like the Emerald Ash Borer, predacious mites and insects that help humanity through biological control. You can even bring your favorite insects and spiders to be identified by experts.
The event is hosted by the Department of Entomology in Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
