Brief Biography: Gail Lebovic, MA, MD, FACS
Dr. Lebovic lives in Dallas and can easily access local TV stations.
Dr. Gail Lebovic is credited around the world as one of the few early pioneers in the field of Oncoplastic Surgery, a comprehensive approach to breast cancer surgery that combines surgical oncology and reconstructive surgery, to optimize the medical and aesthetic outcome.
Dr. Lebovic spent over 10 years as an attending surgeon at Stanford University Medical Center, and served as Associate Director of the Lee Breast Center, at USC. She then developed and led the program for Preventive Services as Director of Women’s Healthcare at the Cooper Clinic. In addition to her innovative clinical work, Lebovic remains actively involved in many philanthropic organizations, and most recently served as President of the American Society of Breast Disease.
Currently, she continues to serve as a passionate healthcare educator and continues her work as a physician/patient advocate throughout the world. In July 2012, Dr. Lebovic received the distinguished American Cancer Society’s Spirit of Achievement Award.
Anees B. Chagpar, MD, MSc, MA, MPH, FRCS(C), FACS

Anees is the Director of the Breast Center -- Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Yale School of Medicine, the Program Director of the Interdisciplinary Breast Fellowship at Yale University, and the Assistant Director for Diversity and Health Equity at Yale Cancer Center.
Born and raised in Canada, she completed her BSc in Honors Biochemistry and MD with Honors in Research at the University of Alberta, and her general surgery residency training and MSc at the University of Saskatchewan. She went on to complete the Susan G. Komen Interdisciplinary Breast Fellowship at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, an MPH at Harvard School of Public Health and an MA in Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Louisville.
In September 2010, she led the effort for Yale to become the first NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Northeast to have a nationally accredited breast center.
She has NIH funding to evaluate markers of non-sentinel node metastases, and is the principal investigator on the SHAVE trial to evaluate optimal surgical management of breast cancer patients undergoing partial mastectomy. She enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty, and is the Director of the Surgical Oncology Clerkship at Yale.
