Newswise — (New York – December 10, 2018) Mount Sinai Health System today opened a new, full-service center called Mount Sinai Express Care that offers immediate care for minor injuries and illnesses. It is located at 1440 Madison Avenue, near the emergency room of The Mount Sinai Hospital.

Mount Sinai Express Care offers personalized treatment on a walk-in basis, with no appointment required. The practice is staffed by highly skilled emergency physicians who treat pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Electronic medical records are fully integrated with the Mount Sinai Health System, providing staff with secure access to each patient’s complete medical history.

Medical conditions treated include allergies and asthma, bronchitis, earaches and eye infections, fevers and flu, skin rashes, stomach ailments, and most other minor injuries and illnesses.

“This new center provides treatment to patients who need immediate care but don’t require the full services of an emergency department,” said Judah Fierstein, MD, Director of Urgent Care Services for the Department of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “The center’s location on the campus of The Mount Sinai Hospital provides ideal access to top-notch specialists if additional care is needed.”

“Our goal is to provide Mount Sinai quality health care at express care speeds,” said Andy Jagoda, MD, Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “If a condition requires more extensive treatment, our medical team will transfer a patient to our emergency department.”

Mount Sinai Express Care will be open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 11 pm. Most insurance plans are accepted. No appointment is needed. The center’s phone number is 212-241-8460.
