Newswise — March 12, 2019 — The University of Utah David Eccles School of Business’ Professional MBA program jumped 16 spots in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings for the best part-time MBA programs, moving to No. 44 overall, and No.1 part-time MBA in Utah. The part-time MBA ranking represents an astounding 64 spot climb in just two years. The Eccles School’s MBA Entrepreneurship ranking also jumped from No. 24 to No. 17. The Full-Time MBA program was ranked No. 54, and the Healthcare Management MBA came in at No. 43.

The U.S. News & World Report part-time MBA program rankings are unique in that half of a school’s score is determined by the program’s peer schools.

“Our focus is on delivering value to our students and it is gratifying to know that our efforts are visible nationwide.” said Kris May, director of the Professional MBA program.

“It is an honor to have our Professional MBA program join the ranks of the nation’s top 50 part-time MBA programs,” said Brad Vierig, associate dean of MBA Programs & Executive Education at the Eccles School. “I am proud to say that we are able to connect students with truly impactful graduate management education, from early career to executive level, through our four top 50 ranked MBA programs.”

The Eccles School has made major investments recently, including hiring prestigious faculty from around the globe, increasing the amount of scholarship dollars awarded, and constructing and opening three premier new buildings in the past seven years. In August 2018, all MBA programs and Executive Education moved into the new 150,000 square-foot Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff Building, giving MBA students more study and classroom space, along with executive-level amenities.

“The ranking shows that the Eccles School’s ongoing focus on MBA programs in recent years is continuing to pay off,” said Dean Taylor Randall. “We are proud to deliver outstanding results, to both students and employers in the community, through a program that allows students to remain in the workplace.”

The Entrepreneurship ranking was supported by activities at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and Lassonde Studios, which combines makerspace with four floors of living space for students across the University of Utah.
