Newswise — Two-day meeting of the International Scientific Council took place at South Ural State University. Leading scientists from around the world and directors of the largest corporations highly praised SUSU’s accomplishments and discussed the prospects of the university’s development within its participation in Project 5-100.

Members of the International Scientific Council were introduced to the strategy of the university’s development, which is supposed to be carried out in three relevant global directions: digital industry, ecology and materials science.

One of the goals of the university is to establish a Russian federal centre of the best available ecology-related technologies and competencies. There are the following blocks of activity: Clear Air, Clean Water, Development of Technologies for Solid Waste Recycling, Environmental Law, and Humanitarian Eco-engineering. Active work is being done in each of the directions, and various departments of the university get involved.

There are also results in the sphere of digital industry and materials science. It is nowadays already that large-scale projects are being implemented in these directions, and research articles get published in high-rank international journals.

The university presented results of operation of eight unique laboratories, headed by the world’s leading scientists, to the International Scientific Council. Presentation of projects of four new laboratories took place within the ISC meeting.

SUSU is not just becoming a large educational centre but also makes a big contribution to science and economy of Russia. Leading scientists from around the world expressed their readiness to keep supporting active development of the university.

“International Scientific Council members are impressed by the results of the university’s operation. Today, research carried out at SUSU is of interest for the whole world,” says the ISC Chairman, President of Emerson Corporation, Michael Train.

Over three years of participation in the national Project 5-100, SUSU indeed has accomplished a considerable success. According to the Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, there are results in all directions of the strategic development of the university, and there are more significant achievements laying ahead.
