Steven Soper, PhD, member of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, was elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biomedical Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows. The AIMBE College of Fellows represents the top 2 percent of the medical and biological engineering community. There are about 2,000 members globally.

Dr. Soper is one of 12 Foundation Distinguished Professors at the University of Kansas. He is a leading researcher in the generation of novel biomedical devices, concentrating on in vitro cancer diagnostics based on lab-on-a-chip technologies. Dr. Soper focuses on the development of tools for the analysis of liquid biopsy markers, such as circulating tumor cells, cell free DNA and extracellular vesicles. Dr. Soper is a Fellow of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

“This is indeed an honor to be selected by peers to the College of Fellows,” Soper said. “This would not have been possible without the hard work of my many graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and collaborators whom have allowed me to be highly productive in my career.”
