Newswise — (LONG ISLAND – AUG. 14) Stuart O. Schecter, MD, has been named Director of The Mount Sinai Health Network’s Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring System. The program tracks the status of implanted cardiac rhythm devices and provides secure data to hospitals, satellite practices, affiliates and Mount Sinai-owned practices through each patient’s electronic health record (EHR). Dr. Schecter, who spent almost two decades in practice at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center in Roslyn, NY, will work with the Mount Sinai Cardiovascular Institute leadership to continue building world-class electrophysiology services. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Schecter has implanted more than 8,000 cardiac devices and has been issued 18 United States patents. He is Faculty of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography; and is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist of the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals, has presented at international meetings, and served as co-investigator in several landmark cardiology trials. “Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Schecter has a strong reputation for improving congestive heart failure symptoms in patients by optimizing programmed settings of implanted cardiac devices using cardiac ultrasound,” said Arthur A. Klein, MD, President of the Mount Sinai Health Network. “His innovative techniques coupled with his genuine desire to help his patients translate into excellent patient care. Therefore, Mount Sinai is delighted to welcome him into the fold.” Dr. Schecter received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA prior to embarking on a career in medicine. He completed his Medical Degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Schecter will continue to care for patients in Manhattan at The Mount Sinai Hospital and at Mount Sinai Manhasset Medical Associates, 1615 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset.
