Newswise — NEW ORLEANS – Oct. 8, 2014 – ASA corporate supporters PharMEDium, Baxter and TeamHealth today announced initiatives to benefit the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) during the ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2014 annual meeting.

“We are thrilled by the efforts of our industry supporters,” said Robert K. Stoelting, M.D., president of APSF. “The ongoing support of PharMEDium, Baxter and TeamHealth has been invaluable to the foundation and their donations allow us to advance the specialty of anesthesiology in meaningful ways that improve the experience and safety of patients.”

The ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2014 annual meeting, October 11-15 in New Orleans, draws physician anesthesiologists from around the world to advance the specialty of anesthesiology and improve patient safety.

The initiatives of the industry supporters are listed below:

PharMEDium is conducting a survey in its exhibit booth in the Connection Center. For every annual meeting attendee who visits the booth and takes a brief survey, PharMEDium will donate $20 to the foundation.

Baxter has a photo booth as part of its exhibit space in the Connection Center. For every annual meeting attendee who visits the photo booth, Baxter will donate $20 to APSF, up to a total of $10,000 for the event.

TeamHealth is conducting a badge scan campaign at its exhibit booth in the Connection Center. For every annual meeting attendee who has his or her badge scanned at its booth, TeamHealth will donate $5 to APSF.

All donations from the initiatives go directly to APSF, which aims to continually improve the safety of patients during anesthesia care through research, education, education campaigns and national and international information and idea exchange.

“Our goal is to always be improving anesthesia safety and our supporters help us move toward that goal,” said Dr. Stoelting.
