Newswise — Dean Alexander, director of the Homeland Security Research Program and associate professor of homeland security at Western Illinois University's School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, has extensively lectured and published about terrorism, security, and legal issues.
In late April 2011, Alexander delivered "Foreign Affinity Terrorism in the U.S. and its Nexus with the AfPak-India Region," at a conference in Cleveland (OH). Also in April 2011, he trained more than 50 international military and other professionals at the NATO "Centre for Defense Against Terrorism," in Ankara, Turkey. In March 2011, he spent 10 days in Israel lecturing on terrorism, as well as interviewed Hamas and Fatah terrorists at a prison there. In February 2011, he published the article, "Al Qaeda-Inspired Terrorism in America and Its Implications."
Professor Alexander earned law degrees from Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M., International & Comparative Law, 1991) and American University, Washington College of Law (J.D., 1990). He is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.A., 1986) and attended the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland (Diploma Program, 1986-87). He has been a member of the Bar since 1990.
