Newswise — WASHINGTON—The George Washington University School of Nursing’s (SON) online master of science in nursing (MSN) program is the fourth best out of more than 130 programs nationwide, according to rankings published Jan. 8 by U.S. News & World Report. Last year, the program was ranked 16.

Delivering high-quality education is core to our mission and this national acknowledgement illustrates the school’s commitment to meeting the demand for flexible educational opportunities for nurses to advance their careers and improve the health of their communities,” SON Dean Jean Johnson said.
The SON’s U.S. News ranking reflects the quality of its student engagement, faculty credentials and training as well as student services and technology. It also incorporates data pertaining to peer reputation and admissions selectivity.
The SON’s MSN program offers six degrees: adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, clinical research administration, family nurse practitioner, health care quality, nursing leadership and management and nurse-midwifery. Each program focuses on interdisciplinary teamwork and effective communication across health settings and systems of care system in which they work.
