Babson College Announces 1997 Inductees to The Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs

What: Wellesley, Mass...Babson College announces the 1997 inductees to The Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs. They will be honored at the 20th annual Founder's Day program, Wed., April 16, 1997 on the Babson campus in Wellesley.

Since 1977, the Academy has brought outstanding entrepreneurs to Babson to share their history and philosophy and to interact with the Babson community. The 64 men and women inducted into the Academy are honored for their willingness to take risks and to invest capital and energy into ventures that made positive contributions to society.

Who: This year's Academy inductees are:

Willie D. Davis President and CEO, All-Pro Broadcasting Company

1981 Enshrinee, NFL Hall of Fame

Leo Kahn Chairman and CEO, Nature's Heartland

Cofounder, Staples, Inc.

Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Chairman and CEO, The Quick & Reilly Group, Inc.

Thomas G. Stemberg Chairman and CEO, Staples, Inc.

When and Where: Afternoon program in Knight Auditorium is free and open to the public. 2:00 p.m. Presentation of Student Awards
-- John H. Muller, Jr. Business Plan Prize (undergraduate)
-- Douglass Foundation Entrepreneurial Business Plan Prize (graduate)
-- Student Business Initiative Award (Babson Alumni Association) 2:30 p.m. Introduction and comments by Academy inductees. Q&A session.

Guest Entrepreneurs will share personal insights on Entrepreneurship and starting a business. 3-4:45 p.m. Individual break-out discussions with Academy inductees.

When and Where: Evening program is in Webster Center.

Who: Barbara J. Litrell, vice president, MacDonald Communications and group publisher, Working Woman and Working Mother magazines, will host the evening presentation of entrepreneurs and induction ceremony. 6:00 p.m. Reception, dinner, presentation and induction ceremony, formal addresses by guest entrepreneurs. Reservations at a cost of $75 per person must be made in advance by calling (617) 239-5273.
