Newswise — 15 start-ups are participating in Babson College’s 2013 Summer Venture Program, a 10-week intensive experience sponsored by the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson that is designed to support the College’s most promising MBA and undergraduate entrepreneurs.

Babson’s Summer Venture Program is one of the area’s leading accelerators and has several unique features, including being the only full-time community of entrepreneurs and mentors that work together in an open workspace on the college’s campus. In addition, the program provides participants with a noontime lecture series that covers a wide range of topics relating to entrepreneurship, including discussions by successful entrepreneurs, investors and company advisors.

Participants also engage in “Hot Seat” sessions, created by Steve Gold, the Program Director, where they learn to critique presentations and develop engaging sales and investor pitches.

This summer’s special SVP guests include Marsh Carter, Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange and former Chairman and CEO of State Street Bank, and Jordan Kahn, founder and CEO of the Holmes Group. Also, Babson graduate Sara Gragnolati of Cocomama Foods, Jill Cartwright of GoGaga bags, Enrico Palmerino of ThinkLite, and Ross Beyeler of GrowthSpark are four of the young entrepreneurs advising participants.

SVP features a diverse array of business ranging from retail to event planning and even a Mango Wine company. All of the lessons and experience from this summer’s program culminate in a Summer Venture Program Showcase event, a celebration at Babson College where participants showcase their work to professional investors and the local community, on Thursday, July 25th.
