Newswise — Babson College and The Academic Success Program (ASP) have partnered to recruit first-generation students from the Dallas, TX region to attend the top-ranked business school for entrepreneurship in the U.S.
Babson has agreed to allocate up to five full-tuition scholarships for qualified ASP students.
The Academic Success Program (ASP) is a comprehensive high school program that prepares students in the 9th through 12th grade for admission to the nation's top universities. Over 90% of ASP's students will be the first in their families to attain a college degree. Most ASP students come from low-income households that qualify for federal free/reduced lunch, are students of color, and, demographically, the least likely to gain a college degree.
"Partnering with ASP will help us reach high-potential students early in their high school careers," says Babson's Undergraduate Admission Dean, Grant M. Gosselin, "Babson is committed to the benefits of a diverse campus with a multicultural environment that will attract, educate, empower, and retain under-represented students."
"Babson's support has been incredible," said Thomas J. Urquidez, ASP's Executive Director. "Our objective is to change communities through education and equity building, requiring older students to give back to younger students through tutoring and mentoring, so that each empowers the other."
