Newswise — Chicago (October 27, 2015): The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) membership elected Dr. Cheryl Lehman, PhD, RN, CNS-BC, RN-BC, CRRN, to serve as president of the association for the 2015-2016 year. Dr. Lehman took office at the recent 41st Annual ARN Educational Conference, held September 30 – October 3, 2015 in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Lehman has been an active member for 21 years, having served on the Board of Directors and several ARN national committees since 1998

Dr. Lehman most recently worked as a Clinical Professor and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program Director at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing in San Antonio, TX. Her clinical interest is in aging and access to care. Dr. Lehman earned her Registered Nursing degree at Decatur Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and later earned her Doctorate degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Lehman has led both the Rehabilitation Nursing Certification Board (RNCB) and the Rehabilitation Nursing Foundation (RNF) as chair. She has served as a contributor and Rehabilitation Nursing Journal (RNJ) editorial board member since 2008. She has contributed to numerous educational conferences and products. During her time as RNF Chair, she led the update of the RNF Research Agenda; and is the editor of the 7th edition of The Specialty Practice of Rehabilitation Nursing: A Core Curriculum that will be released in mid-November, 2015.
